The Harbinger and the Fountain
A most savvy police inspector with a highly developed ability to read people
Fenton was in charge of the interrogation of Jean-Reynard de Souisse after he was brought initially to the police station regarding a forged letter supposedly found in his coat left at the Winston Estate the previous evening. Fenton also reveals that a compass was found in his pocket. The canny man reads Souisse quickly and realizes that he has never laid eyes on the items “discovered” in his pockets and releases him quickly. He offers to listen to anything that Father Souisse has to say in his defense.
